A Directing Workshop with Stephen Drover
January 21 2011 9 am – 5pm
This workshop will explore the physical relationship between performer and audience and how different arrangements of the playing space can help communicate a play. Stephen Drover will take the participants through a kaleidoscope of orientations the director can use in shaping the playing field, including – but not limited to – proscenium, thrust, alley, pageant and theatre-in-the-round.
During the workshop we will be looking at the plays of Shakespeare, John Patrick Shanley, Kevin Kerr and David Mamet as well as others. We welcome actors wishing to join this workshop to participate in the scenes as worked.
Cost: Stage 43 members and Theatre BC members: $75; non members: $100
